Job Description

Barnet’s Product Development team is looking for someone to support the Internal Barnet Branded Development program through ideation, research, design, and creativity in order to achieve raw material development goals. The ideal candidate will utilize knowledge and experience from raw material, formulation background in order to aid in the conceptualization of new innovative raw materials and see the R&D process from formulation creation through manufacturing launch. This individual will work in a team-oriented environment with strong collaboration with the product development team. This candidate will have strong personal/communication skills, as this role will interact with several internal departments and various external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Independently research potential new ingredients [including outside the industry] and literature that would fit into the company’s product portfolio whitespaces
  • Aid in creative idea generation, raw material sourcing, development, and scale-up of new Barnet Brand products
  • Develop a ratio of complex raw materials
  • Run some market research on new potential ingredients and technologies within and outside the industry, use experimental design, data analysis
  • Learn, understand the product development process and what it takes to progress from idea to launch
  • Work to design and execute multidimensional and staged experiments
  • Understand and adhere to the timeline
  • Prepare timely reports and provide updates on project goals
  • Understand the competitive and industry playing field
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations on independent research projects

Qualifications

  • BS in chemistry or related science with 3+ years’ experience of emulsion formulating; developing raw materials, process engineering, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Possess good analytical problem-solving skills to make timely and accurate decisions
  • Proven ability to outperform project timelines within competitive industry
  • Some experience in Industrial Scale Up
  • Proficiency with operating the following instrumentation: viscometer, pH meter, homogenizer, centrifuge, and microscope; rheometer (a plus)
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Driven, detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills

Job Description

Barnet is looking for an experienced marketing individual reporting into the Marketing Director and working alongside other members of the marketing and sales departments, as well as other internal stakeholders in order to achieve our Company sales goals. This position is located 100% onsite in our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office. The ideal candidate will support the Company’s comprehensive marketing program, improve communications between the company and its customers, and will be hands on with regard to creation and implementation of existing and new initiatives in an environment with a collaborative and business-partnering mindset, while having the ability to take initiative and ownership of the Technical Marketing Coordinator function. This candidate will be skilled in technical accuracy, creativity and speed to market while supporting the existing marketing and communications programs, exploring ways to improve marketing and communications based on the marketplace, new and available technologies, and targeted customer trends, characteristics, and interests.

Responsibilities

  • Gain and maintain a working knowledge of the Company's products, customers, and goals.
  • Program Structure.
    • Support the existing marketing program in a technical capacity including but not limited to writing or ‘translating’ technical literature to mainstream verbiage.
  • Marketing Tools
    • Maintain and update Sales Tools for all raw materials, concepts, and collections; this includes but is not limited to KISS sheets, power points, concept presentations, concept pages, posters, etc. Execute copy and obtain approval of the tools.
    • Create and obtain approval for new technical product literature.
    • Manage new product launches.
    • Technically support tradeshow product content.
    • Execute projects while conferring with the Marketing Director and other key executives during the development process. Obtain their approval of the tools developed.
    • Actively propose new and relevant tools to support the Sales Goals.
  • eNewsletters
    • Create and obtain approval for technical content in eNewsletters.
    • Conduct launch and distribute to specific sales members.
    • Execute eNewsletter strategy throughout the year and adjust, as necessary.
  • With regards to Marketing and Communications
    • Support third party marketing communication efforts.
    • Adjust to the ever-changing industry landscape. Actively engage in how to better or evolve the company’s communication in terms of B2B model.
  • Hair Initiative
    • Confer with category owners to conceptualize new tools.
    • Support initiative by maintaining literature and yearly calendar of commitments.
  • Corporate Branding
    • Maintain consistent corporate branding.
    • Ensure all literature is accurate in technical and branding capacities.
    • Suggest updates and enhancements.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of related work experience; professional services environment preferred.
  • Marketing education/experience or interest [experience in cosmetics or fashion a plus] including social media and electronic communications a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and InDesign required.
  • Self-starter; able to work independently and possessing a strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of the chemical or cosmetics industry is a strong plus.
